1st XI Bowlers Produce Match Winning Performance
Article Date: 17th June 2008
On a '250 wicket' Chipping Sodbury 1sts struggled against Congresbury and at tea made a disappointing 105 all out, with important contributions from Swatton 28 and John Rendell 25.
The sandwiches didn't go down too well for Sodbury and the reasons for Sodbury's failure, on what John Rendell said was the best pitch of the season, were not clear.
But the Sodbury bowlers soon showed Congresbury that it wasn't going to be easy as they started a massive turnaround in the game.
Word started to get back to the 2s at Sodbury that things weren't as bad as they first seemed and at one stage Congresbury were 46-6. Sodbury were well and truly in this and the bowlers then pressed home leaving Congresbury 63 all out!
On such a good batting track the defence of 105 was an excellent feat, Clapp lead the way 5o 1m 13r 4w and also Toghill 10o 3m 17r 3w.
