Chipping Sodbury.....will play......
Club secretary Clive Reynolds last night attended the annual Bristol and District League meeting, where draws are made and match balls, results cards and league handbooks are given out.
A few bits of news to come from the night. Firstly the draw for the first round of the Bristol & District Cricket Association Knock-Out competition has taken place. Chipping Sodbury will play Claverham Cricket Club at Home. The initial date given for this tie is Wednesday 26th May 2004.
Playing Claverham will be a tough fixture, but Chipping Sodbury's record against higher clubs has been good in the past and the club looks determined to carry on through the first round by knocking out Claverham. Last season Claverham 1st XI became Bristol & North Somerset League Champions.
Bristol and District League Averages
Other news from the night came from the League handbooks as the Bristol and District Cricket Association averages for 2003 were published. Congratulations goes to last year's Sunday 1st XI skipper Steve Clapp who came 11th in the 1st XI batting averages with an average of 52.2. The only other Sodbury batsmen to feature was Dave Reynolds who came 62nd with a batting average of 27.2.

A very strong season in the bowling department showed as Alex Tebbitt, Tony Wardle and all-rounder Hugh Sprackman came 6th, 7th and 10th respectively. Averaging 9.3, 9.8 and 10.4. Well done guys!
Highest Partnerships 2003
In the batting partnerships for all cricket played in the Bristol and District Cricket Association, Mike Pearson and Lee Walters came 12th with their 152 for the 2nd Xi against Twyford House. Well done to Lee Walters who also picked up 15th with Rich Bennett with 141 runs for the 2nd XI.
B&D's Highest Team totals
CSCC 2nd XI came 14th here with a total of 300-4 against Pak Bristolians on the 19th of July 2003.
Wicket-Keeping
Craig Scully came 5th in this category with 15 catches and 1 stumping. Steve Doidge came 9th with 9 catches and 2 stumpings. Good glove work folks.
Well I think that's enough stats for now, all I need to say is good luck to our knock-out mid-week team against Claverham.
And the Bristol and District Cricket Association is no longer sponsored by Lyons Davidson, but now by Adams Exhibitions Ltd.
