Annual Cricket Subs In 2011 Announced - Find Out How Much And The Reasons Behind Any Increases
Article Date: 7th November 2010
Annual Subs for 2011 by Mike Pearson, CSCC Treasurer
Annuals Subs are due on the 1st January every year. All senior and youth subscriptions must be paid by May 31st.
- Adult - £40
- Student - £30
- Family - £70 ( Adult playing member with 1 or more children)
- Junior - multiple £60 ( 2 or more children)
- Junior - single £35.
The only increase from 2010 is for the Junior Section with an extra £5 being added.
In taking this decision at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) which takes place in September each year, we have taken into account the cost of running the Junior section, balanced against the huge number of positives which we are now starting to see from our thriving Junior Section.
Coaching
We are continuing to invest in the Junior Section both in terms of time and money- Club members and parent volunteers are benefiting from the various ECB coaching courses but this doesn't come cheap- over £1300 in the last financial year. In addition we have employed the professional coaching services of Andy Stovold at a cost of over £600- again the Junior is the main beneficiary.
Ground Maintenance
We also have two pitches which require a lot of maintenance and cost to bring them to a standard which our players and the visiting teams expect.
During the summer there are approximately 3-8 junior matches taking place during the week, and 2-3 adult matches at the weekend. This requires a lot of machinery, fuel and other supplies as well as costly machine maintenance.
Increasing the Annual Junior Sub
In view of the Club's investment in Junior Cricket we do not consider an extra £5 on the subs is unreasonable. The alternative of a £1 match fee was discussed but to avoid this administrative chore, the small extra sub was voted on as the preferred option at the AGM.
The Treasurer proposed that Adult subs be held at the same level- The additional match fee of £1 per game imposed last year was felt sufficient to cover the additional costs of an employed groundsman.
Chipping Sodbury has become an expensive Club to run- If we strip out one off expenditure such as the new pavilion and the new covers, the annual cost of maintaining and running the Club is in the region of £25,000!!
We are having to commit nearly £10,000 of our funds to the new nets which will provide a much needed boost to our training and practice facilities.
At the end of the day, we are a Cricket Club and the membership can rest assured that we will continue to seek to improve our facilities for the benefit of all members.
