Article Date: 28th January 2006

Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club in Bristol is 150 Years Old this year!

3 Year Cricket Sponsorship Deal Announced

Just before Christmas 2005, the great news came through that the Bristol Youth Cricket League had announced that NatWest has agreed to sponsor the League for the next three years.

Natwest - A Great Supporter of Cricket

In 2005, a year which saw NatWest celebrating 25 years of supporting English cricket, this sponsorship marked the latest initiative by the Bank to develop the sport at a grassroots level.

Other nationwide youth initiatives include Inter Cricket (the alternative to the traditional hard ball game), Summer Camps and the NatWest Speed Stars competition to find the countries fastest young bowlers.

This is in addition to raising the profile of the game through sponsorship of the NatWest International Twenty20, The NatWest Series, The NatWest Challenge and The NatWest Women's Series.

Natwest show Commitment

Commenting on this latest sponsorship deal, Paul Mattock, NatWest's Regional Manager Retail Banking for Bristol, said: "I'm delighted that NatWest has been able to extend our support for grassroots cricket with this new sponsorship. Our aim is to give everyone the opportunity to experience the fun and excitement of the game and we are always looking to introduce new people to the sport. The Bristol Youth Cricket League do a great job of getting Bristol's young people involved and we are thrilled to be able to support them."

Bristol Youth Cricket League show Delight

Jim Donaldson, Chairman of the Bristol Youth Cricket League, continued: "We are delighted to have such a major cricket sponsor supporting our League. Having a high profile sponsor like NatWest will be a big help to us as we continue to work to strengthen links with our Clubs, the County, Local Authorities, Senior Cricket Leagues and Schools. We can't thank NatWest enough for what represents a major contribution to the development of cricket at all levels in this area."

In 2005 NatWest celebrates 25 years of supporting English cricket. The sponsorship of the Bristol Youth Cricket League is one of the many initiatives sponsored by NatWest to develop the sport at a grassroots level:

By the end of this year NatWest will have provided 2,100 bags of cricket kit to schools across the nation through the Inter Cricket Indoor League.

Over 25,000 boys and girls have participated in NatWest Inter Cricket activity in schools and clubs in the last three years.

NatWest has been the key sponsor the following events in 2005: NatWest CricketForce, NatWest Inter Cricket Indoor League, Inter Cricket Summer Camps, NatWest Interactive Roadshows (Speed Stars), NatWest International Twenty20 (the first International Twenty20 staged in the UK), The NatWest Series (the triangular One Day International tournament between England, Australia and Bangladesh, The NatWest Challenge (England Vs Australia three match One Day International tournament), The NatWest Women's Series, NatWest PCA awards and Outstanding Service to Cricket Awards (OSCAs)
