Yate Motorists Urged To Be Vigilant After Cars Vandalised In Bredon And Blaisdon

Police are urging motorists to be vigilant and appealing for information after a spate of criminal damage to cars in Yate.
It happened over the weekend Saturday January 19 to Sunday January 20 2008 in Bredon. At least 24 cars were damaged in the incident, and officers are delivering letters to all the residents in the area asking for witnesses and any further victims to come forward.
The incident in Bredon follows six reports of wing mirrors being damaged in nearby Blaisdon on Saturday January 19 2008.
Neighbourhood Inspector Caroline Howard said: "This is mindless damage. These cars have all had the paintwork deeply scored by a key or something similar.
"This has caused people no end of inconvenience and it's sad that anyone would think this sort of behaviour is fun. I would ask those responsible to think about the people who have been affected by this. They won't have the car while it's repaired and may struggle to get to work, school and do all the other things we rely on our cars for like getting to hospital.
"Even with insurance, these victims will still have to pay out the excess and could see their premiums rise.
"I would appeal for anyone who knows who is responsible for this vandalism to contact Chipping Sodbury Police Station on 0845 456 7000. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 – calls could lead to a reward."
