Having comfortably won their league section Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club's Under 15s went to Bishopston Cricket Club on Monday evening to play their Under 15 side in the quarter-finals of the Bristol Youth Cricket League play-offs.
In a match that could have easily been abandoned due to bad light Sodbury were lucky that the umpires chose to stay on in difficult conditions.
With the game starting at a late 6.30pm due to some Bishopston late comers Chipping Sodbury batted first and made 128 for 6 from their 20 overs. A timely and crucial 53* from Kriss Hemming was the main knock of the Sodbury innings.
In reply Bishopston were all out for 115 from 18 overs. Although on course, they lost wickets and that proved the decisive factor after a nerve wracking and dark late wag of the tail.
Notable Sodbury performances were Bradley Arkwright 1-0-7-3 and Harry Webb 1-0-6-2.
The Chipping Sodbury team now go to Thornbury Cricket Club to play their Thornbury 'C' side. This game will be played in the week beginning August 6th.
Please make a space in your schedule (once the date in known) and go on over and support the lads. It should start at 6pm. All support would be massively appreciated.
