Chipping Sodbury women's team recorded their first ever league win with a well deserved 6 wicket victory over Corse and Staunton at Rose Hill on Sunday.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat and found the pace of Kat Spray and Emma Rawlinson hard to handle, as they slumped to 25 -5.

Rawlinson on debut bowled two Corse & Staunton batsman in her opening overs and in her two spells took 4 wickets for 14 runs, Stacey Caple chipped in with 3 for 5 as the visitors were dismissed for 52, Sodbury bowlers were backed up by some fielding, as Gill Rogers and wicket-keeper Leanne Leech combined well to gain a run out and Helen Price fielding in her customary position of short cover took 3 excellent catches.

Sodbury took no time in knocking off the 53 runs for the loss of only 4 wickets, Leanne Leech and George Boston got the run chase off to a solid start with 25 runs before Leech was adjudged LBW for 10, Boston carried her bat for 17 not out and got Sodbury ladies to their first league win and the celebrations started.
