Article Date: 27th June 2011

Sodbury skipper James Rendell lost the toss and his side were asked to bat first on a damp track.
Sodbury in Trouble After Losing Toss
They were soon in trouble as Jerry Swatton fell for one and he was soon followed by Jamie Wakefield (10), Rendell (12) and Kris Davis (3).
Sodbury looked in deep trouble. However opener Rich Howell was still at the crease and he found a useful ally in Craig Scully. The pair shared a century stand before Scully was run out for 33.
Howell Produces Fine Innings
Howell then single handedly took the attack to the home side and reached his second century in four games. It was a fantastic rearguard knock as he held the Sodbury innings together. He was eventually stumped for 101 and Sodbury finished on 199 for 9 from their 45 overs.
Congresbury Suffer Shakey Start
In reply, Congresbury got off to a similarly disastrous start with Jay Penfold picking up an early wicket and a run out not aiding the home sides cause.
A third wicket partnership of 59 steadied the innings and at 70 for 2 the game was evenly poised.
Toghill Spectacular
However, the introduction of the fiery Jon Toghill turned the game in Sodbury's favour once more. He ripped through the heart of Congresbury line up with the help of some impressive Sodbury catching. He finished with seasons best figures of 6 for 48.
JR Seals the Deal
James Rendell and Jay Penfold then pitched in at the death with the aid of two smart stumpings from John Rendell as the home side were dismissed for 147 - well short of their target.
