Chipping Sodbury 1st XI go into this weekend needing just 5 points from their last 2 games to secure the championship in the Bristol and District Senior Division for only the second time since 1973.
1st XI look for promotion
With the possibility that the required bonus points could be achieved during the first innings there may be some smiling faces scoffing the cucumber sarnies at tea!
The 1st XI will be playing 7th placed Long Ashton, and the team and club will be hoping they can continue their successful season which has seen just the one loss to date. They will be trying hard to make sure that they can get through to the end of the season without any further defeat.
A great bunch
Under the leadership of Jamie Rendell, Chipping Sodbury 1st XI has really set a great example to the rest of the club. The commitment, determination, competitiveness and all round attitude that has been on show should be closely noted by many in the club, especially the younger players who will be aspiring to play 1st XI cricket in the coming years.
And away from that note(!) Saturday night could be a very messy one and everyone at Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club is hoping it will be! We will all be hoping to join in the celebrations of this band of men's great achievement come Saturday night! Come on Sodbury!!! Good luck!
