You're invited to the grand opening of CSCC's New second Pitch
You are cordially invited to the grand opening of the 2nd pitch at The Ridings, home of Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club, which will be held with a match on Wednesday 4th July 2007. Proceedings will begin at 6pm, and a buffet will be laid on for you to enjoy.
As you may well be aware, a cricket club has represented the town of Chipping Sodbury at The Ridings in one form or another for the past 147 years.
During this time, the Club has existed primarily through the hard work and determination of its playing members and their families.
Over the years, CSCC has earned a reputation as a friendly, family-orientated Club which has become the envy of clubs in the surrounding area. As a direct result of this, our membership base has increased dramatically, to the point where we are now regularly fielding 4 teams on a Saturday, 2 on a Sunday, and at least 1 team at every youth team level from under 9`s through to under 17`s.
Approximately 10 years ago, CSCC committee decided that its principle aim should be to bring the 3rd and 4th XI teams back to The Ridings for their home fixtures, thus ending years of a nomadic existence for these teams, who would travel as far afield as Hillesley and Tormarton to play their "home" games. More recently, youth team development has placed a huge strain on our facilities, further highlighting the need for a 2nd pitch.
As a result of years of hard work, and with the aid of Chipping Sodbury Towns Trust, CSCC are now in a position to bring all of Sodbury`s cricket back to The Ridings.
With this in mind, we are proud to welcome you to the grand opening of our 2nd pitch, where you will be treated to a feast of club cricket involving members of the 3rd and 4th XI teams, as well as senior members who have made the long trek away from the The Ridings in the name of Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club.
We look forward to seeing you at The Ridings for what will be a great evening`s entertainment.
