Another great night for CSCC started and ended last Friday
(1st November) at Chipping Sodbury Golf Club. The event was a great success with £237 being raised from the raffle. Thanks go to Stroud and Swindon Building Society for donating the CD System to the raffle, much appreciated.After a nice helping of soup, turkey and cheesecake, not all at once, it was down to the all important awards. Young Player of the Year 2002 went to U13 captain Craig Dyer who had a great season for someone of such a young age. He represented Bristol Youth Cricket League and also broke into the senior side on Sunday, top scoring in one match for the Sunday 2nds v Corsham with a score of over 40.The Player's Player Award 2002 went to 2 players this year. Both members of the 1st XI, Ged McBurney and Jon Toghill.Australian Ged McBurney was unable to attend the dinner, but joined the members of CSCC live by satelite from Melbourne, Australia. However due to some technical glitches the live connection failed. (For any players and members looking back at this through the archives, the satelite link didn't really happen....just making sure you weren't mislead!)However, before Ged left on his journey back to Australia in September, CSCC held a farewell bash where Ged was presented with a medal to commemorate his part in the Player's Player Award. Ged's season's stats were League - 16 inns, 1 no, 563 runs @ 37.53, 3x50, 2x100, HS 119* - Well batted Sunday!Jon Toghill also received the award, for his numerous pacey and devastating bowling spells.Jon's season figures were League - 174.1 overs, 28 maidens, 568 runs, 32 wickets @ 17.75 - Congratulations to the both of them.The Clubman of the Year Award 2002 went to a certain Mark Reynolds. Creator of the CSCC website and for the first time Youth Secretary, he continues with his role as U11/U13 manager in 2003.And so we wait for another cricket season and hope for good things to come in 2003.
