A great time was had by all!

After the success of last year's Jubilee Fun Day, it was decided to make the fun day an annual beacon in the season's fixture list. With a lot of thanks going to the great planning of Malcolm Soper, the day was yet another great success.

The sun shone down on The Ridings, as the inaugural 20 over-a-side fun day clash got underway between the Veterans (30 and overs) and the Young Pretenders (under 30) in the late morning. After the first over, the Young Pretenders were left struggling from the shere might that is Mr David Collinge, or DC as some people in the village know him. 9 runs for 2 wickets. Eventually, or maybe sooner than expected, Dave Reynolds came to the crease with the sounds of Punjabi MC reverberating around the ground. He was shortly joined by his much taller brother Mark as the two put on a brisk 75. The Young Pretenders finished up their innings on 190.

The Veterans then began their chase, but with a constant fall of wickets it wasn't going to be easy. A measured 76 by Craig Scully was the only highlight in the batting line up, but alas he got his measurements wrong and The Veterans fell short by 30 runs.

Once the excitement of the cricket had peaked, with the music and the match over, the running and skipping could begin. As Bob and Sue Soper provided some spendid food behind the BBQ, the hoards of spectators watched from the grass as one by one the 2003 CSCC Sports Fun Day champions won their respective races.

The afternoon flowed, a quiz show with a difference took place (Who's Welsh Is It Anyway?) and the dusk drew nearer. A great time was had by all.
