At the start of November 2003, Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club celebrated another season of cricket with their much hyped Dinner and Dance, a posh do held annually at Chipping Sodbury Golf Club.

The evening was a great success largely due to the efforts of Clive Reynolds, Andy Shield and Malcolm Soper. A superb attendance was the result, with 101 members, families and friends supporting CSCC. So thanks to everyone for coming! Although the evening is not a focused fund raising event, £500 was raised on the night which is more good news.

One of the main awards to be presented went to Jim Cowles who stepped down as Chairman of Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club after many dedicated years. The new Chairman Andy Shield noted both his and the club's appreciation for the hard work which Jim has put into the club over the years. Jim will thankfully still make a difference at CSCC as he continues on the committee during 2004.

Young Player of the Year 2003 went to Jamie Wakefield. For the majority of the season Jamie represented Sodbury's senior league 2nd XI, playing extremely well and coming away with some very economical returns, particularly for a 15 year old. He ended the season in the 1st XI and with continued hard effort should continue his upward journey at Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club in 2004. Jamie played 4 matches for Gloucestershire U15s, his best analysis being 12o 24r 1w.

Player's Player of the Year 2003 went to Steve Clapp who put in some very good batting performances for the saturday 1st XI and bowled a bit as well! He averaged 52.25 with the bat. (statistics courtesy of CSCC Fantasy Cricket 2003)

Clubman of the Year went to Malcolm Soper who this year put in plenty of hard work in organising numerous fund-raising and social events at CSCC. The players at CSCC have a lot to thank such members who make Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club what it is. Sopes also got the Chairman's Award from outgoing chairman Jim Cowles.

And that was the 2003 dinner dance, festivities carried on into the night and everyone partied hard and some had hangovers the next day and some did not.
