Oh what a night!

CSCC's Fake That night last Saturday (CSCC's answer to Stars in their Eyes) was one of the best social nights at CSCC in a very long time. Organised by Craig and Sarah, the feast of entertainment brought together a great cross section of the club and showed what a great spirit the whole club has.

Paul Crabtree kicked the night off with his quality rendition at the keyboard of John Lennon singing I feel fine/She Loves you. When Crabber finished the roof lifted - a great start to the night and a brave man! He looked a dead spit of Lennon too!

Following him was Benno with a rendition of Too Shy by Kajagoogoo which got to number one in 1983. The Benno that we all know graced us with yet another quality tune! He looked a dead spit of Kajagoogoo lead singer too!

By this time the stakes were rising who could win with such high standards on show??

Mikey Pearson came fast behind with a frightening and at times humorous rendition of a Alvin Stardust hit. Dressed up in the full garb, wig, side burns and all, he gestured to the fans whilst uttering and muttering! And then he sang! Interesting. Needless to say everyone was in stitches. He looked a dead spit of Alvin Stardust too!

Mark Reynolds was next playing Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. Having felt that he was handling any nerves pretty well Mark sat down in front of piano and started to empty half a gallons worth of sweat from his forehead. Apparently he was very good. He looked a dead spit of Chris Martin too!

Next was the club favourite Jay Penfold as heartthrob Elvis - yes the one and only - never has Elvis sung so beautifully and gracefully into the funneled spout of a fire extinguisher - having said that it may well have been a microphone on this occasion! He looked a dead spit of Elvis too!

This was followed by Jaime Louise Hicks as Britney and what a Britney she was! She sizzled everyone with some great singing and temptestuous dancing! She looked a dead spit of Britney too!

Jay Rendell then pulled off a briliant Vanilla Ice! The rapping skills of this man were quality - it was a joy to watch! He looked a dead spit of Vanilla Ice too!

And there it was, the atmosphere had been great all night everyone was loving it and for those people above to get up on stage was no mean feat - everyone realised just how lucky they were to see such a talented and brave bunch of people!

And then at 20 minutes past midnight the votes had been counted - Craig was ready to announce the results. In third place was everyone's favourite lancastrian and beatle John Lennon AKA Crabbers! What a performance!

In second place was Jaime Hicks who I think did a brilliant debut for her many fans at Sodbury Cricket Club.

And the winner of Fake That 2008..........with 1.2 million votes was Chris Martin aka Mark Reynolds!!! Woody said "I voted for him because I was very impressed, I was very surprised at his piano playing but even more surprised that he could sing!"

We managed to catch a few words with the winner back stage...."I don't think I've known a night like it a CSCC. The beauty of it was that there was so much variety to the acts and it took a lot of balls for us all to get up the front. It was great seeing such a great cross section of the club here enjoying themselves and hopefully everyone at the club can do the same with some more great social events for the rest of the year. Me and Crabbers had been bricking it all day and we all just loved giving the club a good night! Craig and Sarah did a quality job. I'm coming back for Fake That 2009 as Alison Moyet."

The night carried on and the atmosphere was electric! You might be able to check out a movie of Jay Rendell and the rest of the gang here!
