After the wash out which was the first week, Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club's second week couldn't have had a much better outcome.
The 3rd XI beat Knowle at home. Sodbury restricted Knowle to 95 all out, with Cav Smythe taking 4 wickets. In reply Sodbury made 96-8 and got their campaign off to a great start. The 2nd XI played Twyford House at home. With Sodbury making 206-6, Mark Graham 73 and Jeff Long 55, Twyford could only manage 134 with Steve Bush claiming 5 wickets. The true fireworks took place in the 1st XI.
Rob Fowler made a magnificient contribution with the ball, finishing with figures of 14o 2m 57r 7w, this left Twyford on 157. Sodbury passed the total with the loss of 5 wickets. What a win! Not only did Mr R. Fowler get into the Evening Post with a splendid headline, but he also managed to get into the 'Post Top 30' - a list of the weekend's best performances.
Not only did he get in there, but he won the week's Top 30 award! - 'The medium pace bowler returned superb figures of 7-57 - five of his victims were clean bowled- to help his side beat last year's Bristol and District Senior Division Runners Up, Twyford House.' Well done Rizzler!!
What a great start to the CSCC Fantasy Cricket Comp, which saw Alan Simmonds take an early lead! The league table can be found weekly up at the club.
