Very Sad News At CSCC As Jim Cowles Passes Away
Article Date: 7th October 2011
Message from Andy Shield
It is my sad task to inform you that Jim Cowles - Vice Chairman and club stalwart has passed away after a short illness today Friday October 7 2011.
Jim has for the past 62 years been involved in Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club, being Sunday Second Team Captain, Club Chairman, and the first ever Youth Team Manager to his present role as Vice Chairman.
All of these offices he held with a great deal of pride, although it was not the office he held but the fact that he was involved in our Club and could make a significant contribution was where he gained a considerable amount of enjoyment over a long period of time.
His presence at the club, some times on match days or more significantly helping get the ground ready for the weekend's games will be where he will be sorely missed.
I know from recent conversations with him that he was immensely proud of the achievements of the club in recent times, culminating in all the success achieved by various teams in the season just ended.
I am sure that as a Club when we receive the accolades of our best ever season and celebrate our successes - Jim will be in all of our thoughts.
It is the end of an era - our thoughts are with his wife Phyllis, son David and daughter Allison.
Details on funeral arrangements will be made available in due course.
