Jeff Long and Mark Reynolds to attend Lord's
Earlier this summer, Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club were asked by the Gloucestershire Cricket Board to put forward nominations for the OSCAs (Outstanding Service to Cricket Awards). We nominated 2 of our members to the Board for consideration in 2 categories of the OSCAs, Jeff Long (Long Service) and Mark Reynolds (Under 25 category).
These two nominations were of such high quality that the GCB included our two in its nominations to the ECB in two of the seven categories. Jeff and Mark travel to a celebration at Lords on October 4th at which the results of the national awards will be made. Well done, and good luck to you both, we are very fortunate to have you as members of Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club.
Clive Reynolds, CSCC Secretary
Excerpt from play-cricket.com website: The OSCAs are aimed at recognising those volunteers who give so much of their time to the game of cricket. As we all know, no sport would be able to survive were it not for the army of volunteers who give of their time freely and passionately. Cricket is no exception.
For the first time in 2003, the England and Wales Cricket Board, with the support of NatWest, decided to organise a special event in order to thank these people for their hard work and dedication. This event, while celebrating the work of volunteers, will also raise the profile of cricket.
The OSCAs will take place at Lord's Cricket Ground in the Nursery Pavilion on October 4. There will be a lunch with approximately 300 guests. Guests will comprise of nominees, press, public, and voluntary and private sector representatives and of course individuals from the world of cricket. There are seven categories that volunteers can be nominated for and there will be overall winners who are announced on the day.
