CSCC selects club's first ever Saturday 4th team
For the first time since Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club's inception in 1860, a Saturday 4th XI will represent the club. With Andy Shield at the helm, the team will venture to the ground of Midsomer Norton Methodists, who play Saturday friendly matches. Midsomer Norton is half way between the historic cities of Bath and Wells and situated in countryside just north of Downside Abbey.
CSCC has been fortunate this year with a number of new players, good availability and a number of talented youth team members filtering through. This has meant that in the last few weeks a number of players who usually play cricket on Saturdays have been unable to get a game. This new 4th XI will help to resolve this situation, with more being able to enjoy cricket for Sodbury.
The bad news is for all those CSCC Fantasy Cricket Managers out there, because the matches which the 4th XI will play will not be league matches. This will mean that the player's escapades will not be counted in the fantasy cricket competition.Speaking of which, after holding on to the lead for 3 weeks, Alan Simmonds has slipped from the top of the league table to be replaced by......well you'll have to have a look at the notice board up at the cricket club.
Finally, all at Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club wish our first ever 4th XI team good luck!!!! It's been good work on Andy Shield's part for getting it off the ground. (Players will be contacted by Andy).
