Bennett, Reynolds, Clark and Long
'Crow Hop', 'Grip, Stance, Backswing and Step', 'Run up and bound'. Although these sound like something from a dance teacher's manual, they are infact some of the elements which make up a successful cricketer and children at Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club will be learning them from our newly qualified coaches in the new year.
Since the end of the cricket season, 4 of our members have been busy learning, to become ECB Level 1 qualified coaches and they have now succeeded. The first to take the exam were Richard Bennett and Mark Reynolds in mid-November, when they attended the course over 2 weekends at the County Ground, Nevil Road. Last weekend Jeff Long and Derek Clark, father of Under 13 Max, both passed when they took the assessment at the Castle School, Thornbury.
Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club sends congratulations to them all and wishes good luck to them in their futures as coaches. In February another 6 CSCC members who also be taking the course and so Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club also wishes them good luck.
When junior pre-season training begins in 2004, Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club will certainly have made a huge advance and as a result significant changes will be made to training sessions. These changes will focus on achieving maximum enjoyment from cricket and at the same time allowing the children to achieve their maximum cricketing potential.
The future looks bright.
