New Houses For Chipping Sodbury, What Does It Mean For CSCC?

Article Date: 28th February 2009

Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club in Bristol is 150 Years Old this year!

As you may have heard Waitrose is coming to Chipping Sodbury along with new housing. So what effect could the new housing have on our cricket club?

David Shipp, chairman of the town trust, said: "The trust would have to cater for sports and recreational facilities for 300 more people if the proposed homes go ahead.

"We are already bursting at the seams but we have been told money from the development would be made available to improve The Ridings training ground on Wickwar Road."

But is it bad for the cricket club? Being realistic there may not be lots of people from that new housing that will want to play cricket and there wasn't that big a difference when Couzens and Ross Close were built.

CSCC has been developing fast and it looks like there is more change around the corner. But an influx of new faces can hopefully only be a good thing and it’s good news for Sodbury’s ambition.
