Photos From Sportsman's Dinner Published - A Great And Very Funny Night!
Article Date: 10th April 2010
What a night!! Local businesses, sports clubs and Chipping Sodbury CC members turned out for a brilliant night in the amazing Marquee that graced the cricket club to start the club's 150th cricket season.
Great speeches from ex-England cricketer Devon Malcolm and ex-England rugby player Gareth Chilcott made it a superb night, along with a very humerous speech from our very own chairman, Andrew Shield.
"It was amazing to see the cricket club transformed for this weekend that kicks off our 150th cricket season" said Mark Reynolds, "it was just so strange to see this many people sat around tables on our outfield, or at least in a marquee on our outfield! The speeches were really great, the speakers clearly entertained everyone, even our Chairman Andy Shield got up with some great gags. Speaking for myself I don't think I have ever laughed so much whilst on the outfield, apart from when a few years ago Lee Walters missed a skier taking the full force on his rib cage!"
The night was a huge success and the cricket club would like to thank everyone who supported the night, including 1st XI captain James Rendell and his business partner Tim Lund who organised the night. Also big thanks to the many volunteers who helped to make the night work, such as those who got everything ready for the night, those who worked behind the bars and those who helped clean up the following morning!
