SAFETY ALERT – JUNIOR MEMBERS
Chipping Sodbury CC would like to reinforce the fact that all Junior Members whilst engaged in cricket activities at the club and in particular Nets must wear the appropriate equipment, this being defined as:-
- Pads
- Gloves
- Abdomen Guard (a box)
- HELMET
This instruction is a mandatory requirement of the ECB and must be adhered to in full by Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club.
"On my regular visits to the ground I am consistently asking our Junior Members to comply with this instruction." says Andy Shield, Club Chairman. "I am pleased that in the main most Junior Members have in their kit bags the appropriate kit and understand the instructions. The reluctance to wear it must cease with immediate effect."
"I would ask all Senior Members, Youth Team Managers, Parents and Carers to support The Club in the enforcing of this policy."
"If, when in attendance at various activities at The Ridings they see these instructions not being followed, ask the offending people to comply immediately."
"Most accidents are caused by negligence, complacency and taking short cuts. Not wearing the appropriate cricket kit is a short cut and increases the risk of accident to the individual and the ultimate consequences to Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club and the individuals who have to deal with an unfortunate incident."
"With the school summer holidays nearly upon us, it would be pleasing for our Junior Members to utilise the facilities at The Ridings, if current behaviours continue it increases the risk of an accident. That’s why these behaviours must stop."
"I would ask that all Members support me in increasing our vigilance of this area of our Club." concludes Andy. "Please enjoy the facilities at Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club - but stay SAFE!."
