Chipping Sodbury 1st XI v Old Down 1st XI
Sodbury finished their league campaign with a convincing 61 run victory over Old Down to avenge the earlier defeat in the season.
Sodbury batted first on a damp track and were restricted to 180 for 8 from their 44 overs. Dave Reynolds (58) and Jerry Swatton (29) held the top order together and Steve Clapp (19) and a late flurry from John Rendell (32 not out) gave the Sodbury score some respectability.
In reply Old Down had no answer to the pace and aggression of Jon Toghill who saved his best spell for the final game. He took 6 for 40 to clean out the Old Down top order and despite a late stand it was fitting that Jamie Rendell who has had such a fine season as batsmen, bowler and captain took the final wicket to finish the game.

Although there was disappointment that Chipping Sodbury's first XI finished one below the promotion spot, the team took their fair share of success as runners-up.
Congratulations should be given to a team of role models that showed the club dedication, application and commitment, something which many at CSCC could learn a great deal from.
Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club looks forward to the 2007 league season with continued optimism!
