Sponsor The Webbs As They Climb Mount Kilimanjaro In August
Article Date: 2nd August 2009
Andy Webb talks about their planned adventure as they look to climb Mount Kilimanjaro later in August. You can sponsor them on their JustGiving page, all funds will go to Help for Heroes.
Andy:
Our troop comprises of me (Andy), Jan (Mum), Matthew, Harrison and John Radford. The first four are all family members. John, who is Matts’ godfather and I had talked often of trekking Kilimanjaro and on attaining our 50th year decided we would do it.
The opportunity arose for two of our three sons; Matthew and Harrison to join us. So when Matthew arrived safely back from completing a six month tour in Afghanistan with 45 Commando and Harrison had finished his A Level examinations we decided it was now or never..
Having booked the trip we decided we would take the opportunity to raise some money for charity and after Matt’s recent experience in Afghanistan we decided on Help for Heroes.
We will commence the trek up Kilimanjaro following the Rongai Route on Aug 16th and come down from the mountain on Aug 23rd.
We have not set a specific target for our fundraising but if we could raise £1000+ it would make the effort of our trek worthwhile.
Please sponsor us in our attempt to trek the mountain and help us raise funds for the work that Help for Heroes performs.
