Women's Cricket Open Day - Sunday May 2005 At CSCC

Article Date: 5th May 2005

Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club in Bristol is 150 Years Old this year!

And then there was a Women's XI

On Sunday 15th May from 10.30am-12 Noon, Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club will he hosting its first Women's Cricket Open Day aimed solely at trying to form a Women's Cricket Team. Hannah Lloyd, current England Women's International, will be attending the session.

Training Session

The Women's game is played by both Women and Girls, so any girls over 13 and women are invited to come along.

Girls and women who have already been playing in the Bristol area will take part in a training session with Hannah Lloyd and obviously anyone interested can join in or just watch. Some of these players play for the County and some have only just started, so there will be a wide range of abilities!

There will be plenty to do to give an idea of what you can get from the women's version of the game.

We really are opening this up to anyone in the local area and into Bristol. So all are welcome, please come along! However, if you're a bloke reading this then get your girlfriend, wife or daughter to come along if they fancy it.

England Women's Cricket Captain

Yesterday we were lucky enough to have an interview with current England Women's Cricket Captain Clare Connor. Here's her message to the women of Bristol!

"Give it a go. We’ve found at our local club Brighton & Hove Cricket Club that lots of women and youngsters are encouraged to give it a go. My message to women and girls in Chipping Sodbury, Yate and Bristol is to see if you enjoy it. I don’t think that anyone has left our local cricket club, no one has left a training session disappointed, people have made new friends and thoroughly enjoyed it. Playing cricket in a cricket club is a social experience, it can also be a competitive experience. Give it a go, enjoy it. It’s just a great ultimate team sporting experience and it’s available to anyone who wants to give it a go."

The full interview with the England Women's Captain will shortly appear on this web site. Do not miss it!

If anyone fancies coming along or wants more details then please ring the Women's Team Captain Paula Young on 01454 852429.
