Bristol Youth League Warns Clubs Over Behaviour
Article Date: 3rd June 2008
The youth league has had several points brought to their attention this season, but there are 3 in particular that worry the league. Please can everyone at CSCC be mindful of these:
NB This is a general warning and is not specific to Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club
- SLEDGING - This has been occuring at various age levels but most worrying at Under 11. Also older players trying to intimidate younger players. Sledging is something that the league and Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club finds unacceptable. If you see this in any cricket at CSCC please discourage it and report it to an appropriate person.
- COACHING - Whilst it is necessary for coaching (particularly at the younger age groups), this should only be done by the Team Manager/Coach and under NO circumstances should parents enter the field of play.
- MANAGERS/UMPIRE/SCORER - These are 3 different jobs, all need concentration and it is best that one person does not try to carry out all three at the same time. It is essential that both scorers sit together (or can at least easily and regularly communicate) so that there can be no confusion (or disagreement!) with the score.
