A quick look back
In 2005 Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club began playing womens cricket. In 2006 they played their first year of league cricket and what a great first year it was. It brought a great new aspect to the club, a new buzz which the ladies particularly enjoyed being a part of. Their cricket continues to undergo amazing improvement under the coaching of Gloucestershire players and our own ECB coaches.
Today Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club are really encouraging any women or girls in the area to give cricket a go. We want womens cricket to have a strong future, both at the club and within the Bristol area.
England's Womens Cricket Captain
In an interview with Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club, England's Womens Cricket Captain and victorias 2005 Ashes skipper Clare Connor had a message for women and girls in Chipping Sodbury, Yate and Bristol.
"Give cricket a go. We’ve found at Brighton & Hove Cricket Club that lots of women and youngsters are encouraged to give it a go. My message to women and girls in Chipping Sodbury, Yate and Bristol is to see if you enjoy it. I don’t think that anyone has left our local cricket club, no one has left a training session disappointed, people have made new friends and thoroughly enjoyed it."
"Playing cricket in a cricket club is a social experience, it can also be a competitive experience. Give it a go, enjoy it. It’s just a great ultimate team experience and it’s available to anyone who wants to give it a go."
