How old do I have to be before I can join Chipping Sodbury?
Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club allows boys and girls from School Year 2 to come along to practice sessions. At this age the child will not use a hard cricket ball. When the child is in School Year 4 (generally at the end of the season), we introduce them to hard ball cricket practice.
We are always developing our cricket coaching methods for young children and so there are opportunities for the younger players to come along. Call Youth Secretary Lisa Graham on 01454 324962 to find out more.

From Playground to Senior Cricket
As has happened with many of our senior players at our cricket club, children will hopefully progress through the youth system, leave the youth section aged 17 and begin/continue to play for Sodbury in senior cricket. With any sports club, the Youth section is crucial, this is no different at CSCC.
The Youth Section: CSCC's Future
Our youth section provides for the future of the cricket club, but more importantly it provides the opportunity for the youth of Chipping Sodbury, Yate and the surrounding areas to play and enjoy the great summer game.
Cricket Coaches
The cricket club now has in excess of 12 ECB Level 1 Qualified coaches, meaning a high level of cricket development at Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club.
The number of coaches at Sodbury has rapidly increased and with it a real sense of progress.
We have many youth teams at Sodbury, Under 9s, Under 11s, Under 13s, Under 15s and Under 17s. It's a great experience watching the youngsters enjoy their cricket as they progress through each team. And it is this enjoyment which is at the forefront of CSCC's approach to youth cricket.
Enjoyment
We understand the importance for youngsters to experience sport, to enjoy cricket and to socialise with their team mates, and that's why we give our youth teams the utmost attention.
There have been many cricketers, many of whom currently play for the senior teams at Chipping Sodbury, who really enjoyed their time in the Sodbury youth teams - spending balmy summer evenings playing 20 over cricket against local opposition.
There have been many great successes over the years, we hope there are many more to come! But again the main purpose of youth cricket at Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club is enjoyment.
20 Over Cricket
Cricket matches at youth level (Under 11+) consists of 20 overs per side, usually played on a weekday evening. Most matches are filled with tension and excitement, but as long as the players try their best and enjoy their cricket, we feel that our mission has been accomplished.
The training that our coaches give to the youngsters is top class and their help is always appreciated. Who knows where the next Kevin Pietersen will come from! Hopefully not South Africa!
We are actively looking to expand the number of ECB coaches at CSCC, so if you're interested in attending the short course then please contact Lisa Graham on 01454 324962 or via the Contact Us page.
